Susanna has just completed ‘GENERATION KILL’, a new $56 million, seven-part HBO miniseries from the creators of ‘THE WIRE’, that was released in the UK in January.
The show has had massive critical success in the States, with the Washington Post saying "[it] stands among the truest and most trenchant war movies of all time" and “the most authentic depiction of troop life ever to hit the small screen” by Vanity Fair.
With a background in documentary filmmaking that includes BAFTA nominated “THE MUSEUM” (‘Modern Times’) in 1996 and the Emmy nominated “TELL ME THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE” in 2000, Susanna’s drama credits are no less impressive…
* Nominated for ‘Outstanding Directing For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special’, Emmy Awards 2007 for BBC production ‘JANE EYRE’
* Winner ‘Best Drama Serial’, BAFTA 2006 for BBC production ‘BLEAK HOUSE’
* Nominated for ‘Best Drama Series 2002/03’, BAFTA for Channel 4 production ‘TEACHERS 11’
More recently Susanna has worked on her first feature 'Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang' due to be released in 2010.
Trying to pin a specific style or genre of filmmaking to Susanna is pointless, as her work ranges across fly-on-the-wall documentary, period drama, UK situation performance comedy and, most recently, documentary style drama with special effects. It is her exceptional skill as a director and building strong character development that allows her success in such a wide variety of work.
