Joseph Pierce is an animator/filmmaker with a background in film, theatre and experimental art.
He has recently graduated with an MA in Animation Direction from the UK’s National Film and Television School.
His micro-short films have been in international festivals including Bristol Encounters (special mention ’06), Uppsala, London Short Film Festival and Cinema St Louis, US.
His graduation film STAND UP has already been screened to acclaim at many festivals around the world, winning awards in the UK and Europe.
Since graduating he has co-directed commissioned art-work for the Royal Institution, and the Department of Health. He has produced animated visuals in theatre for the Royal Opera House, National Theatre and the New York Met Opera. He is also developing a feature script with BBC films. Joseph was recently selected as one of Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow 2008 and a featured director in the Shots Magazine animation special issue.
Joseph’s newest project ‘Family Portrait’ is now in competition in film festivals around the world including Encounters 2009, London Film Festival 2009, Clermont Ferrand 2010 and Angers Film Festival 2010.
